Frequently Asked Questions

How often does ADP update?

Underdog ADP updates daily during peak draft season and reflects the most recent completed drafts on the Underdog platform.

What is the difference between Overall and ADP?

ADP (Average Draft Position) is the average pick number where a player is selected across all drafts (shown as a decimal).

Overall is the player's whole-number ranking after sorting all players by ADP in ascending order.

Because many players are drafted interchangeably, their ADPs may be very close (for example: 25.1, 25.5, 25.9). When sorted, those players will appear consecutively in the draft room as Overall picks 25, 26, and 27.

In short:

  • ADP = precise average draft slot (decimal)
  • Overall = whole-number order based on ADP

How are Draft Board ADP Trends calculated?

Draft Board ADP Trends are calculated using Overall ranking, not the raw decimal ADP.

Formula:

Previous Overall − Current Overall = ADP Trend

Example:

  • 3 days ago: 107 Overall (ADP 107.2)
  • Today: 94 Overall (ADP 95.0)
  • 3-Day ADP Trend: 107 − 94 = +13

Note: This is not calculated as 107.2 − 95.0.

Why use Overall instead of raw ADP?

In most cases, the difference between raw ADP change and Overall change is negligible. However, deeper in drafts — particularly among players who were not consistently drafted in both periods — small decimal ADP shifts can result in much larger Overall ranking trends. This happens because many late-round players are drafted interchangeably (or not at all). To avoid misleading trend signals, we do not display a Draft Board ADP Trend when the underlying data suggests the movement is noise rather than a meaningful shift in player value.

How does Underdog ADP differ from other ADP sources?

Underdog ADP is specific to Underdog's Best Ball scoring. Specifically, Underdog Best Ball is half-ppr (point per reception) scoring. Teams are made up of 18 player rosters and with starting lineups consisting of 1-QB, 2-RB, 3-WR, 1-TE, and 1-Flex (W/R/T).

Does this ADP cover all Best Ball contests on Underdog?

No. This ADP is specifically for Underdog's NFL Standard Best Ball scoring. While this covers Underdog's flagship contest (Best Ball Mania) and a vast majority of their contest and tournaments, Underdog also host superflex and other specific scoring Best Ball formats with different ADP values.

What does "better in best ball" mean?

The phrase "better in best ball" is commonly used to describe players that highly volatile week-to-week (i.e. boom/bust profiles). Because you do not need to make weekly start/sit decisions in best ball, highly volatile players are considered more valuable by some since you do no need to correctly guess their "boom" weeks like you do in season long managed leagues.
